Sunrise at 1770

1770 Beach, Central Queensland

A partnered project and one of Australia’s leading environmentally sustainable, residential coastal communities, Sunrise at 1770 has set a precedent for progressive environmentally sustainable design.

Of the 1500 acres purchased and rezoned, 1200 acres were ‘gifted’ back to bush heritage groups to preserve this virtually untouched section of the Capricorn coastline. Residents pay an annual fee towards protecting their pristine environment and the estate is limited to 172 residences fronting 6 private beaches with walking tracks over the headlands and private access paths over the sand dunes and onto the beach.

The estate runs on underground power with a ‘black sky’ policy for street lighting, treated waste water is reticulated back for garden irrigation and toilet flushing, a water harvesting facility, with 2 bores and a reticulated fire fighting system can be used within the estate, and residents access a native nursery with plants that are locally propagated. Residents share access to community amenities including two horizon swimming pools and children’s undercover wading pool, 8 bbq pavilions, 4 tennis courts, half court basketball court and children’s playground.
